The mask i have had for about 15 years, and never worked. Checked the batteries, and one was dead. Off to the local electronics store, to get some AAA batteries and holders. Thanks for the tip

My newer (5-10 years old) helmet quit about 2 weeks ago and I was resigned to ‘paying the piper’ but Googled it first and got your EXCELLENT post. So, I ordered the battery holders and de-soldering braid from Radio Shack and tried the ‘fix’ on the newer one of 2 that I have (the older one doesn’t come apart so easy) and, thanks to your step by step instructions and photos, it works! I’m using Coppertop AAAs for now but ordered some rechargeable ones to see if the helmet’s solar charger will work with them – Again, THANK YOU for an extremely well-written post! I’m a ‘happy camper’, again!

I repaired my mask with a couple of remote 2032 holders, some wire, solder and hot glue to mount the battery holders to the inside of my helmet. Works fine now.

With the massive viewing area, it can allow you to see your weld from all perspectives. find out more Welding Helmet Lens Cover

I have the same helmet and it recently started working too well. At the lowest setting it is now very dark. My batteries are reading 3.6 volts each. Any ideas?

Now I put the new cell between the tabs, put a piece of foam on top and close the case.

I may 3D print a protective ring to keep the cell centered in case of helmet drops.

Thanks for the info to know I can do this.

Does anyone know if you need rechargeable batteries because it’s solar powered?

Thanks!
